Northern Minnesota offers some of the best winter birding in the United States. People come from across the country – and even around the world – to experience birding opportunities not available elsewhere. Unique habitats and flight patterns along western Lake Superior provides exceptional winter birding at such places as the renowned Sax-Zim Bog, Lake Superior North Shore and Duluth Harbor, just to name a few.
Our featured speaker and facilitator is Rich Hoeg, a nationally-know birding enthusiast and naturalist. He will share his expertise and advice on birding in Northern Minnesota.

About Your Facilitator
Richard Hoeg, 365 Days of Birds
Rich Hoeg is a naturalist who lives in NE Minnesota. For the past ten years he has served as a volunteer naturalist at the nationally-renowned northern Minnesota birding area, Sax-Zim Bog.
Rich has recently presented at Chicago’s two largest Audubon organizations. He also has presented many times closer to home in Minnesota as a well-known expert on NE Minnesota birding. He is the author/photographer of three children’s picture books on owls.
His website, 365DaysofBird.com, chronicles his NE Minnesota birding adventures and expertise.
Rich is a friend of the South Pier Inn and has generously agreed to facilitate this event. Rich’s services cannot be hired!

What Happens Next?
We will contact registrants by phone to confirm package availability, room assignment and finalize reservations. Keep in mind, reservations are limited, so reservations are NOT guaranteed until you are called. We will maintain a short waitlist for potential cancellations.
Payment in full is required at time of reservation. Cancellations must be received no later than noon on Thursday, January 25 to receive full refund.
In the event that insufficient bookings exist and the event will be cancelled, you will be notified by phone on Tuesday, January 30.
